the lazy poetry club

The Lazy Poetry Club was a weekly creative writing workshop that I ran at Streets Kitchen's Solidarity Centre between September 2017 and March 2018. The Solidarity Centre was a self-organised space that supported homeless people on and off of the streets by providing access to food and clothing, by signposting different services, and by hosting different creative activities.

At The Lazy Poetry Club, we explored the social, the personal, and the spiritual through different writing mediums. We used poetry collage to prompt stream of consciousness writing; we mapped spaces by borrowing Overheard and Overseen language from the local area; we used our senses to travel into memory; we played with animal and alien identities as a way of thinking about different perspectives on humanity.

We often performed our writing at the monthly spoken word event Streets Beats and Thoughts.
